Chandigarh, June 27-The Government has instituted National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement to give recognition to children with exceptional abilities and who have achieved outstanding status in various fields including academics, arts and culture and sports.
While stating this today, Haryana Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal said that the awards instituted by the Central Government would be given children within the age group of 4 to 15 years. The award for the child with exceptional achievements would consist of a gold medal, Rs 20,000 in cash, a citation and a certificate.
The other such 35 awards would be of silver medals, Rs 10,000 in cash a citation and a certificate.
Mrs Bhukkal said that the child to be selected for the award should have unusual talent and exceptional achievements in any field including academics, art culture and sports.His or her age certificate should be duly attested by a Gazetted Government office. Attributes or traits, which are claimed to be possessed by the child, extraordinary or exceptional, should be reported in the Press, or have been tested by experts in the field. It would also be possible to subject the claim to an objective test.
Application form can be obtained from the office of Programme Officer, district Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Cell of respective district or can be downloaded from the website: http//www.wcd.nic.in. The application form complete in all respects with recommendations of concerned Deputy Commissioner should be forwarded to Director Women and Child Development Department, Haryana upto July 10, 2012.
